If you are one of those people who hate the inconvenience of going to Dashboard every time you need some information… Then you may want to have your widgets on your Desktop at all times just open Terminal and enter the following code: defaults write com.apple.dashboard devmode YES; killall Dock


Shrink PDF

In Preview you can shrink the size of a PDF.  To do this open the PDF in Preview. Select “Save As…” from the File menu. In the dialog that appears you will see a pop-up menu labelled “Quartz Filter”. Choose “Reduce File Size” and when you save the PDF it will be much smaller than the original. There is some image quality loss so be sure to keep a copy of the original in case you aren’t happy with the results.

Hide Dock

Option-Command-D hides the dock and whenever you mouse over at the bottom of the screen it appears again.

Empty Finder Window

The quickest way to get to an empty desktop or Finder window is to use the keyboard shortcuts, Command-up arrow which skips windows to view different windows as an integration with Spaces.

Auto Quit: Printer

Ever get annoyed by your printer queuqe staying open all the time. To stop that annoyance just right-click the icon on the Dock and select Auto Click in the menu, from now on when finished printing the document, your printer’s application will always quit.

Time Machine: Back Up Now
